William Jourdan “W. J.” Whiteman.
W. J. Whiteman's documented life intersects with Goodwater's post office, mercantile activity, agriculture, banking, land, public life, and the formation of McCurtain County.
The surviving record includes territorial-era evidence, newspaper items, business material, the 1908 grand-jury photograph, campaign material, and family artifacts.
He died August 22, 1934. Family research also preserves the account that the Goodwater Masonic Lodge paid for his burial when he died without money to leave his family.
