PRESERVATION FUNDING
Building more than one path to preservation.
Crowdfunding is the immediate campaign. Partnerships, technical assistance and eligible preservation funding can expand what the project is able to accomplish.
Immediate campaign
The public preservation campaign is raising $125,000 by May 2027 through GoFundMe. The official campaign remains the live source for fundraising progress.
Why partnerships matter
Many preservation grant programs are designed for nonprofit organizations, tribal governments or municipalities rather than individual homeowners. Instead of representing the project as eligible where it is not, the campaign is pursuing relationships with qualified preservation and historical organizations that may provide technical guidance, advocacy, documentation or a lawful route to eligible collaborative projects.
Current priorities
- Technical documentation and preservation planning.
- Historic-property eligibility and nomination guidance.
- Statewide endangered-place advocacy and public awareness.
- Local and Choctaw historical research partnerships.
- Future nonprofit or fiscal-sponsor relationships where appropriate and legally structured.
- Funding for preservation work that meets the requirements of each program.
Transparency
A grant, nomination, partnership or designation will not be presented as secured until the responsible organization confirms it. That standard keeps fundraising claims separate from applications, preliminary opinions and ongoing conversations.
