What the records establish

The Oklahoma Historical Society identifies archival photographs of the W. J. Whiteman home in Goodwater and catalogs the home as having been built before 1907. The family history extends the story further, but this site does not present an exact construction year as established fact without supporting primary evidence.

Why the house matters

The preservation effort is about more than a structure. The surviving house, family photographs and historical records form a connected archive. Keeping those pieces together preserves context that is easily lost when property and family records separate.
